How much would zero deductible health and dental insurance cost for a single, healthy 25 year old male?

Question by Joel: How much would zero deductible health and dental insurance cost for a single, healthy 25 year old male?
I’m active duty military and I’ve been thinking about getting out. However, I’m wondering how much of my health/dental insurance factors into my overall salary. I’m trying to put a dollar value to it before I look for a civilian job. I have no health problems and I’m 25 years old.

There is no such thing for dental. However, if you are not having any issues with your teeth and are looking to just have them cleaned and fluoride treatments every 6 months, you can go to the local dental school for that. Where I live, a cleaning, x-rays and fluoride are around $ 500 in a dental office, but the whole thing is $ 81 at the dental school. There is a dentist and 2 hygienist on staff so you are guaranteed a great cleaning!
As far as health insurance, I really don’t know of one without a deductible. The lowest deductible I had was $ 250 and it was around $ 300 a month. My employer covered it though. Most employers will offer health insurance to their full time employees at no cost. It’s when you add family insurance that it gets expensive. Our current family insurance price is around $ 500 a month.
PS-Thanks for all you do in service!! :)

Where can I buy Health and Dental Insurance online?

Question by sage: Where can I buy Health and Dental Insurance online?
My husband and I both work but neither one of our employers offers health or dental insurance. Where can I go online to look at different plans? We live in the state of Georgia. Also…does Dental insurance normally come with Health insurance or do you have to purchase it separately?

Best answer:

Answer by mbrcatz17
Why do you want to buy it online? Great way to get scammed, buying it online. Also, it’s a great way to have your identity stolen – trust me, if someone can impersonate a paypal website, they can impersonate an insurance company website.

Plus, if you buy it online, how do you know it’s going to be VALID in your state? How do you know your emails won’t start bouncing as soon as they get your bank account info? You don’t.

Buy from a local agent.

Dental insurance comes seperately. AND, private plans almost ALWAYS cost more than they pay out. I’ve NEVER seen a private dental plan where YOU come out ahead, due to deductibles, copays, and waits.

Q&A: Dental problems??????

Question by bananas: Dental problems??????
I’v just come back form getting 2 dental fillings done, but half of one has just fallen out. I’m going to go back and get it fixed, but I’m wondering will he have to give me another pain reliever shot before putting the new one in?

Hopefully the shot is only to drill away the decay, which he already did first time around.

It’s hard to say if you’ll get another novocaine shot, being that he is simply replacing the filling. You could always ask for “the gas” (nitrous oxide).

Dental health in third world countries?

Question by JamalN: Dental health in third world countries?
Okay, I’m a Registered Dental Assistant and I am a junior (but graduating this year) in high school in a pre-dentistry program (although I want to be an ER Physician). On April 13, I have to present something called a capstone, I don’t know if anyone has heard of it before? I have to do a research into a problem related to dentistry and do a project (application). We were supposed to be working on this the entire year, but of course I procrastinate. I had a light bulb moment in the car yesterday when I was driving (I just came up with my capstone topic yesterday). I was thinking maybe I can find a school in haiti, africa, or some poor parts of asia, send them a package of toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, etc., and do a video chat via webcam teaching them how to properly brush and cover the importance of good dental health…but I started further thinking…how could a school with students that can not afford toothbrushes have a computer and webcam? So, I don’t think that would exactly work? Any other suggestions on what I can do?
Thank You!!!

what is a really good health insurance and dental insurance?

Question by Maria: what is a really good health insurance and dental insurance?
I have been shopping for insurance for a few weeks now and would like some second opinions. What health and dental insuranc edo you have and do you like it?

Best answer:

Answer by Elise
It all depends on your age and if a portion of your premium is being covered by your employer. If you have to pay it all, then Kaiser is the cheapest, but is only available in some states. Then the rest are pretty much the same, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Western Health, Pacific Care, etc…

The other difference is if you want a PPO or an HMO. A PPO tends to be more expensive and you would pay a percentage of each visit this is called co-insurance (usually 20%) along with an annual deductible. However, with the PPO you don’t have to go to your “home” doctor to get a referral for a specialist like on OBGYN.

The HMO is generally cheaper, no deductible and you make co-payments, not co-insurance.

I have and EPO through Aetna witch is an HMO and I like it alot.

Hope this helps!

How come dental insurance isn’t like health insurance?

Question by haha1000: How come dental insurance isn’t like health insurance?
If you have a broken arm you get surgery and get it fixed
You pay a certain amount and there is no limit

How come if you have a broken mouth…You only get a small portion with dental insurance.

If dental / oral health can ruin overall health..shouldn’t dental health be like going to the doctors and getting what needs to be done …done…regardless of ability to pay but allow the dentist to make full profit like a doctor in a hospital?

Answer by Hello my name is Sami
Because some dental insurance doesn’t cover all what happens to your mouth. You have to buy enough to have your whole mouth covered in the insurance.

Q&A: Why is the co-pay for dental insurance more expensive than health insurance?

Question by 2fine4u: Why is the co-pay for dental insurance more expensive than health insurance?
I compared the co pays on several reputable dental insurance companies and it is very expensive. Many things are not covered, even with the best dental insurance. Health insurance is usually a 10 dollar co pay for primary physicians and a 35-50 dollar co pay for specialty physicians. Is there any reason why dental insurance co pay is as expensive as it is?

Best answer:

Answer by Jennifer
You only go to the dentist one or twice a year if you don’t have any problems, and even if you do have a problem, you only go a few times more than that. I’d rather pay 10 dollars for a physician because I go there more often than I do the dentist.

Also, dental care is really, really expensive, and it’s hard for dental insurance companies to make money because people put the dentist last on their list of places to go unless they’re in unbearable agony.

Braces cost $ 5,000 and up where I live, and even a regular teeth cleaning costs three figures. We have a good friend who is a dentist, and he has a hard time earning a living because people put off going, and when they do come they don’t like to have any work done anyway.

I’m sure there are many other reasons for the copays being so high, but this is just my experience.
